Darroch Mhor ChaletsDarroch Mhor is a small privately run development set on the tranquil shores of Loch Goil, just over an hour drive from Glasgow.

Situated on the tranquil shores of Loch Goil, Darroch Mhor is reached by a five mile single track road which descends between the mountains offering truly spectacular scenery from the well known 'Rest and be Thankful' Pass.

With a front window view of Loch Goil and distant hills it is often possible to see Deer and many other wildlife. Of additional interest is the 'Big Oak' which is reputed to be one of the oldest oak trees in Europe (reputed to have been planted by Mary -Queen of Scots during her imprisonment in Carrick castle).

Carrick Castle
A short drive from Carrick is the village of Lochgoilhead, offering fishing and many other sports including climbing and boating. Loch Goil itself is ideally situated to offer safe boating, fishing and other water sport activities.



On land the Argyll Forest Park provides trails and paths over the hills and glens, past some of the loveliest scenery in Scotland; for the more adventurous there is a wide variety of indoor and outdoor pursuits available at Lochgoilhead (approximately 4 Km) including a 25 metre swimming pool and nine hole golf course.


The shores or Loch Goil

With many attractions within a short run from Carrick, Darroch Mhor offers the ideal base for day trips to many tourist attractions.
Visit historic Oban "the gateway to the isles", which hosts the renowned Highland pipe band championships or Cruachan - Europe's first hydroelectric power station built 1km into a mountain. How about Seil Island with the only bridge across the Atlantic, or the many gardens thorough Argyll.

 



Darroch Mhor is easily reached from central Scotland, from arriving at Glasgow follow the M8 and continue through to the Erskine Bridge (junction 17), crossing the Clyde head for Loch Lomond and take the turning for the A82. Continue on to Tarbet, where you join the A83 for Inverary & Campbeltown, and then on to Arrochar for 6km to the top of the Rest & be Thankful, where you will see the left turn sign for Lochgoilhead and Carrick Castle.

Take time to follow this road and view the spectacular scenery as you drive down into a flat valley encompassed by mist covered hills, you will soon reach junction for Lochgoilhead, turn right and follow the road for approximately 5 miles until you reach Carrick Castle. There is a large parking area to the right of the castle and Darroch Mhor is just to the right of this area.
